Chertsey Chills & Cheers

2023 - well here we are, all trying to put the last couple of years behind us, but it's really hard. Covid is still about and the most recent strain seems to be a real 'flu-like one and I've been told it makes you feel like absolute rubbish for a while. Christmas was pretty hectic, with our families staying with us for several days - we had a really great time but it was quite tiring. 2023 holds so much for us - both retiring and of course, the wedding of the year my darling daughter Claire-Marie marrying her love Duncan in April. They got engaged the weekend we went into lockdown and they moved to Manchester, it's been 3 years of planning and a LOT of shopping. So, a weekend away to gather ourselves, put our feet up and just spend some time together was really necessary and much needed. In January there's not so many sites to choose from but we've been itching to get back to Chertsey since they had their refurb, so Chertsey it was. Can you believe that in less than an hour, we were parked up and set up on a really lovely pitch that overlooked the Thames? We were right next to the lock and weir, such a lovely spot.
The weather, although cold, it was dry. Which was pretty good considering I'd forgotten the milk.... or topped up the tea.... or the sugar.... thankfully there is a Londis in the petrol station opposite. It was a weekend of doing nothing but feet up relaxing - just what we both needed. Saturday lunch time we wandered across the bridge to The Kingfisher for a lovely lunch and a glass or two, but also a time where we could just talk without any distractions. We did attempt a walk along the towpath but it was quite windy and our stroll didn't last long!
And so, we've kicked off 2023 - a year with much change and hopefully some great memories to be made!
