Well of course every good camping trip must start with a drink.
We went along for just one night initially - all went well (except the awning... another story). Ok, you twist my arm... we decided to have a go at putting up the awning... let's just say that one of us asked for the instructions and one of us said there wasn't any....
Very aware that there was awning/curtain twitching going on "huh! obviously newbies..." and the fact that the blessed wind had suddenly decided to blow a hooley, we gave up and put it all away (with the instructions that were in the bag...). Once home we realised that the poles go on the outside (oh dear the embarrassment). I now fast forward to our second adventure, 'putting up the awning part 2' - lovely day, quiet and still so we decided to have another go....
Oh the damn wind again!!!!!! However, we did get it up (well sort of, if you look at it quickly with your eyes squinting) - but seriously no one told us that you're supposed to position the camper so the awning is on the grass and that the ground was too hard to bang in the pegs! So, as they say 'hold the front page' because we now 'know what we're doing' and on our next adventure we'll be showing a photo of us in our fully working awning!
(Sumners Pond has a great cafe/restaurant alongside one of the ponds. Great food available all day from a packet of crisps to a 3-course meal. Indoors is quaint and cosy or on sunny days on the decking looking out over the pond.Across the road is a very nice pub and a grocery shop that sells 'everything'. They make pizzas from fresh (to order). http://www.sumnersponds.co.uk/
