A Chatty time in Chertsey

During our first year of camping we met a lovely couple - Derek & Irene.  We instantly 'gelled' and have remained good friends ever since.   We try to meet up at least twice a year, for camping or Sunday lunch, as D&I are retired and spend a great deal of time travelling. we booked an early in the season weekend for us to meet.  Chertsey it was!     https://www.campingandcaravanningclub.co.uk/campsites/uk/surrey/chertsey/chertsey?gclid=Cj0KCQjw8MvWBRC8ARIsAOFSVBXKX2wPDJFlEiosT5WBR2CBzwlbtokCZREe25HXkYFRvydCnln9az0aAuCcEALw_wcB

We've been to Chertsey a couple of times before but this was a new site to D&I.  The lovely wardens at the site saved us two pitches next door to each other.   Now D&I arrived first and chose pitch 66, which on Saturday morning Derek found to be a big - and I mean BIG - mistake as the local pigeons had decided to roost over night in the branches above.  Poor Derek found that their lovely motorhome had turned green overnight and was covered in pigeon poo!

On Friday evening we visited the local pub The Kingfisher for an evening meal   https://www.thekingfisherchertsey.co.uk/   We've had a drink in there on previous trips but not eaten; thoroughly recommended, lovely food and great service.

Saturday morning - very strange....  we woke up to a great big yellow thing in the sky!  What a beautiful day.   We all decided to go for a walk along the River Thames and then spent a leisurely few hours in the Kingfisher.   I don't think we stopped talking the entire time!

It's becoming a tradition that on Saturday night D&I come to 'ours' and we have a picky dinner and watch something on the TV or ... talk!   Tonight we did both!

So as normal Sunday morning arrives all too soon and it's time to pack up an go home.  Goodbyes and promises to meet up again very soon were had.   Home within the hour and busy booking our next weekend away!
